NCWTS: Erik Jones Captures WinStar World Casino & Resort 400K Pole

Erik Jones captured the pole for Friday’s WinStar World Casino 400K at the Texas Motor Speedway. Jones posted a time of 29.822 seconds, 181.074 mph. with seconds remaining in the final round of knockout qualifying. The Michigan native scored his second pole of the season as he looks to capture his first win of 2015.

Matt Crafton will start right beside Jones in the runner-up starting spot. The California native posted a lap of 29.937 seconds, 180.379 mph. He was 0.115 seconds away from the pole for his second front row start of the year.

Daniel Suarez will take the green flag in the third starting spot. Suarez hopes to use the top five start as momentum as he looks to become the first driver from Mexico to capture a victory inside the top three national series. Suarez posted a lap time of 30.019 seconds.

John Wes Townley led the second round of qualifying when the session concluded. However, Townley was not able to back that up in the final round. Townley, driving the No. 05 Zaxby’s Chevrolet, will take the green flag in the fifth starting position.

Tyler Reddick led the first round of qualifying when it concluded. In the second round, Reddick was not able to advance into the final top 12. As a result, Reddick will take the green flag in the 16th starting spot.

With 30 trucks showing up, no drivers went home after qualifying. There were no on-track incidents in the three rounds.
