Tyler Reddick Dover International Speedway Recap

The Monster Mile was no match for Tyler Reddick.

Reddick (@TylerReddick) passed Erik Jones with eight laps to go and drove off into the Delaware sunset to win the Lucas Oil 200 Friday at Dover (Del.) International Speedway.  The victory was his second of the 2015 season and fifth top five finish in six races.  Brad Keselowski Racing won for the third time this season, the most victories for the organization in a single season.  Tyler is now second in the series championship standings, 11 points behind the leader.

Reddick started fourth and ran just behind race leader and teammate Ryan Blaney during the opening laps of the race.  He was directly behind Jennifer Jo Cobb when she spun off Turn 4 on lap 15 but cleanly made it through the incident.  The BKR duo was 1-2 when they made their first scheduled pit stops under the third caution of the race on lap 35.

Reddick changed four tires and restarted 10th when the race went green on lap 39 thanks to a variety of pit strategies among his fellow competitors that shuffled up the running order.

Tyler initially fought a loose handling truck during the next run but his truck improved as the laps ticked away.  He was seventh when the sixth caution slowed the pace on lap 75.  One lap later he pitted for four tires and another round of adjustments and lined up 11th for the restart on lap 79.

Reddick patiently worked his way through traffic during the next run and was in sixth position when the seventh caution waved on lap 106.  He chose not to pit during this yellow and lined up second when the green waved on lap 110.  Tyler made a bold move around Matt Crafton to grab the lead on the restart and held the top spot for the next 29 laps.

The eighth and final caution of the race waved on lap 137 and one lap later Reddick make his final pit stop for four tires and adjustments.  Speedy service on pit road gave Tyler the lead on lap 140.

Jones restarted second and made a quick move around Reddick to take the lead on lap 143 and pulled away.  But as the race entered its closing stages, Reddick began to reel in his rival, visibly closing in by lap 170.  Reddick drew closer and closer as the laps ticked away, pitching his truck sideways in hot pursuit off Turn 4 on lap 187.  Tyler caught his rival on lap 191 and made his race winning pass off Turn 2 on lap 193.  Once he cleared Jones, Reddick pulled away, taking the checkered flag 1.255 seconds ahead of the second place truck.
