NCWTS: Blaney Excited About Camping World Truck Series Return at Dover

Ryan Blaney will return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Friday at the Dover International Speedway. Blaney, who has not made a start in the series this season, has a lot of success at the 1-mile oval in the past, including a runner-up finish last season.

Blaney will run in both the Camping World Truck and XFINITY Series this weekend as he looks to gain further experience at the track. He will not compete in Sunday’s FedEx 400 as he made five starts in the Sprint Cup Series this season with the Wood Brothers.

One of the things the team is focused on this weekend is getting a good qualifying effort. Dover is a track that is very hard for drivers to pass and a good pit stall will also help the team out even more, explained crew chief Chad Kendrick in a release.

Dover is one of Blaney’s favorite tracks on the NASCAR circuit to race at. “It’s always a positive when you’re going to a track the driver really likes and Ryan loves racing at Dover,” said Kendrick. “I think we have a good package for there.  We finished second last year and we’ve done nothing but make the Cooper Standard Ford F-150 better since then.”

Blaney talked about what makes Dover International Speedway so challenging. “One of the biggest challenges with a concrete oval like Dover is that track conditions are always changing,” said Blaney in a release. “The track changes a lot within 200 laps of our race and you have to keep making adjustments to your truck.  Chad Kendrick and I are definitely going to have to be on top of those changing conditions.”

Blaney comes into the weekend with 53 career starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with Brad Keselowski Racing. He owns three victories, 22 top five finishes and four poles. His last victory came last season at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Canada.
