Lagasse Finishes 12th at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Scott Lagasse, Jr. was off to a strong start in the Queen City after posting the second-fastest time in final practice and securing a sixth-place starting position in qualifying. However, Lagasse battled the handling of his GunBroker.com Chevrolet Silverado for much of the night, ultimately resulting in a 12th-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Posting the seventh and second-fastest times in the weekend’s two extended practice sessions, Lagasse advanced to the final round of knockout qualifying, earning a sixth-place starting spot in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Holding his starting spot until the first caution flag of the night on lap 21, Lagasse explained that his GunBroker.com Chevy started the race free all around, but eventually tightened up as the run progressed. Crew chief Chris Rice provided his driver with four tires, fuel and a track-bar adjustment, and Lagasse restarted in the seventh spot on lap 26. Lagasse initially reported that his truck felt better after the adjustments, but by lap 49, his GunBroker.com machine was loose in and tight on exit. Scored in the eighth position, a yellow flag on lap 64 gave his NTS Motorsports crew a chance to service Lagasse with four fresh tires, fuel and an air-pressure adjustment. Following the adjustments, Lagasse found his Chevy Silverado to be extremely loose, and kissed the wall on lap 98. However, the St. Augustine, Florida native persevered until the caution was displayed on lap 106 with Lagasse in the 12th position. Asking Rice to tighten him back up, the NTS Motorsports crew made a track-bar adjustment in addition to fresh tires and fuel. Another caution quickly followed seven laps later, and wild three-wide racing on the lap 122 restart allowed Lagasse to advance as high as the ninth position. A caution just prior to the white flag bunched up the field and sent the race into overtime with a Green/White/Checkered restart on lap 138. Lagasse fought door-to-door in the final two laps, crossing the finish line 12th in a wild finish.

Scott Lagasse, Jr. on Charlotte Motor Speedway:

“It was a good run for our GunBroker.com Chevy Silverado. We had a solid top-ten truck all night long. I cannot thank Bob and Brennan Newberry and this entire NTS Motorsports team enough for all of their hard work this weekend at Charlotte.”
