NCWTS: Eldora Speedway Qualifying Format Announced

NASCAR sent out a rules bulletin to all three of the national series teams on Wednesday afternoon. While everything was minor, NASCAR sent out the Eldora qualifying format to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams for the third annual event on July 22.

NASCAR will allow each vehicle to run two timed laps in qualifying. The fastest lap will determine that vehicles starting position in one of the five heat races. Adjustments or repairs will not be allowed after a truck has completed qualifying.

Positions 1st – 25th will be determined from results in the five heat races.

Starting positions 1st, 6th, 11th, 16th and 21st will be determined in the first heat race. The second heat race will set positions 2nd, 7th, 12th, 17th and 22nd. Third will determine positions 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th and 23rd. The fourth heat race will determine spots 4th, 9th, 14th, 19th and 24th. The fifth and final heat race will determine spots 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th and 25th.

The 26th and 27th starting spots will be determined by the top two finishing positions in the last chance race. The last chance race will consist of 15-laps for vehicles who finished outside the top five in their assigned heat race.

NASCAR will field 32 trucks in the event for the first time. In the first two years, NASCAR only allowed 30 trucks to run in the event on the small dirt oval.

Positions 28 through 32nd will be awarded to owners that have attempted all events in 2015 and are highest in owner points. These spots will be sorted by the fastest trucks in single lap qualifying. Any remaining spots left will be filled by owner points until all 32 positions are filled.
