Scott Lagasse Finishes Third in First Start with NTS Motorsports

In his debut with NTS Motorsports, Scott Lagasse, Jr. and the No. 20 Alert Today Florida/Boy Scouts of America/Beck Chevrolet Silverado finished third at the historic Daytona International Speedway. After rolling off ninth in the 100-lap event, Lagasse was able to avoid the calamity that 2.5-mile oval is notorious for, to record his career-best finish at the Florida track.

Making it to the final round of qualifying, Lagasse secured the ninth starting position for Friday’s event with a best lap of 48.108 seconds. In the opening NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race of the 2015 season, Lagasse spent most of the night inside the top five positions. With several large accidents taking place throughout the evening, like those that have become customary at the superspeedway events, Lagasse did suffer minor right-front damage during the third caution of the night as an accordion-effect accident eliminated a dozen competitors. Pushing his hood slightly out of alignment, the team visited pit road several times during the caution, applying tape to ensure the hood would stay in place.

With only minor damage, the Florida native was able to continue in the event and climbed as high as the third position. Unsure how the aerodynamics of the truck would respond following the damage, Lagasse had to use caution when trying to make a move for the win. With no one pulling out of their single-file line until the exit of Turn 4, the 34-year-old was one of four drivers to race four-wide across the finish line. When the dust settled, Lagasse was credited with a third-place finish.

Scott Lagasse, Jr. on Daytona International Speedway:

“We had a great night with our Alert Today Florida/Boy Scouts of America/Beck Chevrolet Silverado. My NTS Motorsports team built a great truck, and I’m proud of the effort that we were able to put together on the track. I had a lot of fun; it’s always great to race at home with all of our partners and friends, and to have such a competitive ride just makes it that much better. If we wouldn’t have had that right-front fender damage, I really think we could have had a shot at the win. It’s great to kick off the season with a top-three finish.”
