NCWTS: Wallace Scores Emotional Victory at the Homestead-Miami Speedway

Darrell Wallace Jr. captured the victory in the season finale at the Homestead-Miami Speedway after a hard battle all night long to maintain the lead. Wallace, who will move to the Nationwide Series next season with Joe Gibbs Racing depending on sponsorship, captured his fourth win of the season. He led 30 total laps to score a very emotional victory as his crew chief, Jerry Baxter, just lost his mom.

Kyle Larson led the most laps of the night but fell shy of the cookie by 0.294 seconds. The second-place finish will mark his best of the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season after having bad luck strike him at Eldora and Pocono. The 21-year-old started the Ford EcoBoost 200 from the pole in just his third start of the year.

Timothy Peters will sneak away from the Homestead-Miami Speedway after a third-place finishing effort. Peters earned his ninth top-five and 13th top-10 finish of the 2014 season. The 33-year-old passed Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney with about 15 laps remaining as both drivers battled for what was then the third spot.

Matt Crafton made his own history Friday night as he became the first driver in the history of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to win the championship back-to-back. Crafton finished the season earning two victories, 13 top-five and 17 top-10 finishes through the 22 race schedule. He came into the evening needing a 21st or better finish to secure the championship from Ryan Blaney. Crafton and Blaney brought home ninth and fifth-place finishes.

Ben Kennedy secured the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title after a hard season all year long for the No. 31 Turner Scott Motorsports team. Kennedy will finish his first full-time season off with one top-five and seven top-10 finishes. The 22-year-old is still trying to decide his plans for the 2015 season. He finished the Ford EcoBoost 200 in 17th.

The NASCAR Camping World Trucks will not return until February 20th for the 2015 season opener at the Daytona International Speedway. Stay tuned to SpeedwayDigest.com all winter for the latest news reguarding the series and race times.
