South Florida is a Homecoming for Ray Black Jr.

Friday night will be a homecoming for Ray Black Jr. when he makes his his seventh start in the No. 08 ScubaLife / NASE Worldwide Chevrolet for SS Green Light Racing as the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season comes to a close at the Homestead Miami Speedway.

“I’m excited… We have a lot of family coming down, so I am happy about that!” said Black. “It’s about 5 hours so we’ve got a bunch of people coming down, and I’m excited for them to see everything that goes on.”

Black’s previous two races in the ScubaLife / NASE Worldwide Chevrolet on mile and a half tracks have resulted in eighteenth place finishes. “I’m definitely looking to finish better than the last race. I’m looking for a top-fifteen. I know we can get it, I know the truck and the team are capable, so that’s the goal.”

“We’re just going to have to get after it in practice,” Black continued. “This is another new track for me, so we have to learn the grooves and try to figure out the fastest lines for Friday night. This race is tricky because all of our practice is in the daytime and the race is at night when the track is totally different. We’ll have to see what works in the day and put our heads together to make the right changes for Friday night.”

“We are going to have some of the executives from my sponsors coming to the track,” an excited Black concluded. “They’re excited to drive down and hang out with us, I can’t wait. It’s Championship Weekend so we’ve got some great stuff going on so we’re looking for a good result and hopefully build on something for the future!”

The Ford EcoBoost 200 is the 335th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team, a streak that dates back to 2001.
