NCWTS: Erik Jones Captures Another Desert Victory

Erik Jones captured his fourth career victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Friday night at the Phoenix International Raceway after a lighting issue caused the race to end early. The race also started an hour late after the same issued occured just prior to the command to fire engines. Jones started the night from the pole and led 114 of the 125 laps that was ran. Jones isn’t done yet as he will compete in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race with the Joe Gibbs Racing bunch.

Matt Crafton will leave the one-mile Phoenix International Raceway with the runner-up spot after battling hard with Jones all race long. Crafton will head into the season finale next Friday as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader with a 25 point lead ahead of Ryan Blaney. If Crafton is able to seal the championship, he’ll become the first driver to win back-to-back championships in the series. Blaney finished two spots behind in fourth.

Cole Custer had another solid run in third after starting the Lucas Oil 150 from 19th. The race at the Phoenix International Raceway Friday marks his last of the 2014 season. The 16-year-old will end the year with one win, two top-five and six top-10 finishes. Two of those nine starts have come from the pole.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will head to the Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Ford EcoBoost 200. Race coverage will begin on Fox Sports 1 and on the Motor Racing Network at 8:00 p.m. Et.
