Timothy Peters Keeps Top-Five Streak Alive; Finishes Third at Texas

Timothy Peters recorded his career-best finish at Texas Motor Speedway and kept his top-five streak alive with a third-place result in Saturday night’s WinStar World Casino & Resort 350. The No .17 Red Horse Racing team unloaded a fast Toyota Tundra, posting top-10 speeds in both of Thursday afternoon’s practice sessions, and earned a seventh-place starting position during knockout qualifying the following day. Once the green flag was displayed and the sun disappeared below the horizon, the temperatures at the Ft. Worth, Texas race track began to fall. Peters reported a tight-handling condition, especially through Turns 1 and 2. Crew chief Marcus Richmond called for slight air pressure and chassis adjustments during routine green and yellow-flag pit stops throughout the event. As the laps wound down, the intensity heated up among the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers with only three more opportunities to visit Victory Lane this season. Peters competed in the top-15 in the opening laps, but made a home inside the top 10 for the first half of the race, sacrificing some track position to top off with fuel and for right-side tires while under caution on lap 78. He quickly regained the spots and spent the second half of the event inside the top five. He was running in the third position when a late-race caution period occurred and set the stage for a green-white-checkered finish. In a final dash to the checkered flag, the yellow flag was displayed on the final lap freezing the field and scoring the red and white Toyota Tundra in the third position, marking Peter’s best finish to-date at the 1.5-mile speedway.

Timothy Peters Quotes:

“This was the best finish at Texas (Motor Speedway) for me. Just a great effort by Marcus Richmond (crew chief) and everyone at Red Horse Racing who works on these Toyota Tundras. I had fun tonight and it feels great to finally get a top-five finish here (at Texas Motor Speedway). Everyone was on a different tire strategy at the end, we had two (new tires), Kyle (Busch) was on four (new tires), and Germán (Quiroga) was on older tires.

All-in-all it was a great day for the Red Horse Racing team. It feels great to keep this (top-five) streak alive heading to Phoenix (International Raceway) and Homestead (Miami Speedway).”
