German Quiroga Runs Impressive Race at Martinsville Speedway; Finishes 10th

German Quiroga and the No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra team arrived at Martinsville Speedway anxious to compete at a race track similar to the ones Quiroga competed on in the NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series . The team unloaded a fast Toyota Tundra with the No. 77 posting top-10 speeds during both practice sessions on Friday afternoon. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams returned to the half-mile race track early Saturday morning, October 25, for qualifying and the Kroger 200. Quiroga advanced to the final segment of the knock-out qualifying round, where he secured an eighth-place starting spot for the race, was but relegated to the rear of the field for making a post-qualifying adjustment. Despite the setback, Quiroga swiftly made his way through the field once the green flag was displayed, and by the halfway point of the race was running in the 12th position. With 11 laps to go, Quiroga found himself running third, with an opportunity to take the lead. He made a quick decision to attempt a pass on the inside, but wasn’t able to complete it and spun to bring out the 11th and final caution of the day. Quiroga restarted the race in the 15th position and fought his way back to finish the 200-lap event in 10th, earning his 10th top-10 finish of 2014.

Germán Quiroga Quote:

“Man I really thought we could take the lead today and capture our first win with this OtterBox Toyota Tundra. It’s disappointing but taking risks leads to big rewards; it just didn’t play out in our favor today. I can’t thank my entire team enough; they’ve been working so hard. I want to capture that first win for them and for all of my supporters both here and in Mexico.”
