John Wes Townley Rebounds to Eighth Place Place Finsh at Talladega

John Wes Townley rebounded to an eighth place finish in the running of the Fred’s 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega Superpeedway Saturday afternoon.

Townley was neck and neck for the lead when the outside line and his drafting help moved to the bottom leaving the No. 05 Zaxby’s Toyota to slide backwards.  The Athenian Motorsports driver was able to regain momentum advancing from the 19th place to the eighth place position, dodging other trucks, during the green/white/checkered finish.

Townley placed the No. 05 Zaxby’s Tundra in the ninth place position for the 94 lap, 250 mile race on the 2.66-mile superspeedway but was relegated to the back after adjustments had to be made on the Tundra after the qualifying session. Townley recovered leading twice for a total of five laps and was in top-10 in 84 of the 94 lap race on the historic Talladega Superspeedway.

“We had people helping throughout the whole race and at the very end everybody decided to have minds of their owns, which is a lot of times the way that it goes at these places,” John Wes Townley said.  “People stick to a plan and then at the end it all goes out the window.  We came back up and finished eighth.  Just really hate that we couldn’t get the Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra to victory lane today.  We’ll get them next time.”

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads from one of the largest tracks on the circuit to one of the smallest – Martinsville Speedway Saturday, October 25, 2014.
