Multi-Truck Wreck Leaves Germán Quiroga with a 29th-Place Finish at Talladega

After a two-week hiatus the NASCAR Camping World Truck series resumed competition at Talladega Superspeedway, the second visit to a superspeedway on the 2014 schedule. The teams relied on one practice session this weekend, which the No. 77 team used to make various adjustments, posting the 16th-quickest speed. Germán Quiroga felt confident heading into the knock-out qualifying rounds, and advanced to the final session to earn a 12th-place starting position for the Fred’s 250 presented by Coca-Cola. The track was filled with pack racing once the green flag was waved on Saturday afternoon, with the trucks reaching speeds over 185 mph. On lap 12 of the competition, The No. 77 team was involved in a multi-truck wreck. The blue and white Toyota Tundra was taken to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series garage where the team worked tirelessly to repair enough damage in order for Quiroga to resume competition and finish the race. Quiroga returned to the track on lap 37, where he battled to bring home a 29th-place finish.

Germán Quiroga Quote:

“This was not the day we were hoping to have at Talladega (Superspeedway) and it definitely hurt us in the point standings. I have to thank my entire team for working hard after the incident to repair the damage and get us back on the track. They never gave up.”
