Erik Jones captured the victory Saturday night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway by leading 19 of the 146 laps of the Rhino Liners 350K. The victory gives the 18-year-old his second of the season and his third in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He started the event from the 13th-position.
Darrell Wallace Jr., who is a teammate of Jones, came home in the runner-up spot. Wallace led the most laps of the evening but fell shy of scoring his third win of the year. He earned his 10th top-10 finish this season after the strong night. The 20-year-old was 1.329 seconds behind his teammate when the race ended.
Matt Crafton, who leaves the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a 19-point lead over Johnny Sauter, came home with the third-place finishing position. With the crazy battle to lead a lap all night long, he was able to lead just four of those. His teammate, Sauter, finished 14th and one lap down.
Brian Ickler, who made his first start tonight since the Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, came home in fourth. Ickler had to leave the No. 7 because of a lack of funding that only lasted for the first four races. It was his second top-10 finish of the year and the first inside the top-five.
Brian Silas was another driver who had a fantastic evening despite bringing out the second caution of the night on lap 13. After using pit strategy, Silas was able to snatch a 12-place finishing position. Tonight marked his fifth top-15 finish of the year.
Jason White was hoping to have a much better outcome in his No. 20 GunBroker.com Chevrolet than he did. After not making the final round of knockout qualifying, he started the Rhino Liners 350K from 21st. Bad luck struck him on lap 55 after he smacked the wall because he mis-judged a truck attempting to come down pit road and ended his night. He’ll go home with a 23rd-place finish and 91 laps down.
