Ryan Blaney Pocono Post-Race

Ryan Blaney (@RyanBlaney22), driver of the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150, kept his lead in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings with a fifth place finish in the Pocono Mountains 150 Saturday afternoon at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway.

Blaney scored his fourth consecutive top five and collected his seventh in 11 races this season.  He stretched his lead in the standings to seven points after grabbing his second top five in two starts at Pocono.

Ryan started eighth and ran inside the top 10 during the early stages of the race.  He gained track position during the first caution on lap 18 when others chose to pit.  Blaney lined up fourth when the race went green on lap 21 and he stayed in the top five until his scheduled green flag stop on lap 33. He was running third when the race went green on lap 52, but the restart wasn’t kind to Blaney and he was shuffled back in the running order.

The way the race played out in its closing stages didn’t work to Blaney’s advantage.  The No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150 ran better on longer runs but Blaney overcame two restarts in the final nine laps to scramble back inside the top five by the time the checkered flag waved on lap 64.
