Timothy Peters Earns 12th-Place Finish at Pocono

Timothy Peters drove the No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra to a 12th-place finish in the Pocono Mountains 150. The No. 17 Red Horse Racing team showed speed during the two practice sessions at Pocono Raceway, leading final practice with a 165.975 mph lap on Friday afternoon. Returning to the 2.5-mile triangular track Saturday morning, Peters advanced to the final round of qualifying and earned the fifth starting position. The clouds disappeared and the sun made its longest appearance in two days at the Long Pond, Pennsylvania-based facility. When the green flag dropped, the Red Horse Racing driver was faced with changed track conditions and an extremely loose-handling truck. Despite every effort made by the Marcus Richmond-led team, the condition persisted throughout the 64-lap race. Richmond called for air pressure and chassis adjustments during routine pit stops, and sacrificing valuable track position. In the closing laps and amid a green-white-checkered finish, Peters advanced the red and white machine to finish in the 12th position.

Timothy Peters Quote:

“We honestly weren’t expecting the sun to come out and heat up the track like it did this afternoon. We just got loose after that. I had been neutral on exit during practice and qualifying, and was incredibly free once the race started. Marcus (Richmond, crew chief) and the No. 17 Red Horse Racing guys did a great on the pit stops and making adjustments.”
