Peck Motorsports Returns to Truck Series in Indianapolis

After making their debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) at the Iowa Speedway two weeks ago, Peck Motorsports returns to the series this weekend at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis (Ind.) during Friday night’s AAA Insurance 200. Rookie driver Todd Peck will once again be behind the No. 96 Arthritis Foundation “Kids get Arthritis too” Chevrolet promoting juvenile arthritis (JA).

Over 300,000 kids across the country are affected daily by JA. Peck, at the age of 15 was himself diagnosed with JA, but has been able to manage his symptoms and now reach NASCAR’s highest levels. Todd will once again be giving back to the kids and families who live with JA by hosting two local families and children at the track this weekend. The families are a part of the Heartland Region of the Arthritis Foundation. They will be able to meet Todd and also view the race as a donation from Peck Motorsports and the Lucas Oil Raceway.

Although a different look, Peck Motorsports is not new to the national ranks of stock car racing. Todd Peck’s father, Dr. Mike Peck, and uncle, Tom Peck, previously operated the family operation in the NASCAR Nationwide Series throughout the 90s with Tom behind the wheel. The team was able to collect more than 50 top-10 finishes in five full seasons.

Todd Peck has more than 15 starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and currently competes in the Super Cup Stock Car Series. The team is currently looking for primary sponsorship for the 2012 season as it continues its collaboration with the Arthritis Foundation to bring awareness to juvenile arthritis.

Comments from Todd Peck Heading into Indy

“I hope it goes better than Iowa (said laughing). Yeah, we really didn’t have the start we wanted in the Camping World Truck Series at Iowa, but that’s why I’m really anxious to get to Indy. We broke a master cylinder early in the race at Iowa and that left us with no brakes and out of the race way too early. It was disappointing, but this time around I think we’re going to be a lot more comfortable. The first time out we had to go through a lot of the inspections and templates and just get used to everyone. They had to learn us too, and now having some of that experience will help us move faster at the track.

“We really didn’t get as much practice time in Iowa as we hoped. We had to make some changes to the truck, but that’s the stuff that is behind us now. We know what NASCAR wants and we’re going to have a full day at Indy. That’s what I’m really excited about. I know once we get there that we can start concentrating on the track, learning the speedway and getting the truck race ready.

“Lucas Oil Raceway is going to be new to me, but new tracks don’t bother me too much. I know I’m a rookie, but it’s still going out there and learning the groove. I’ve been used to that in other series that I’ve raced in. The biggest thing is still learning our truck. It’s different than what I’ve raced before. It has a lot more power and the things that you feel in a truck are different. I just want more track time to get used to the differences.

“Again, it’s going to be a great weekend to host some families from the Arthritis Foundation and give some kids with juvenile arthritis a fun day at the track. That really became our highlight in Iowa. We had two great families and I was able to meet great kids in Delaney, Liam and Owen. This is just a great program that we’ve started and we’re excited about this weekend too.”
