Ben Kennedy NCWTS Preview: Pocono Raceway

Crossed Flags Ahead…The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) approaches the halfway marker as it heads to Pocono Raceway for the 11th event of the 22-race season. This will be the first event at the Tricky Triangle for Ben Kennedy, who heads into the race with one top-five and five top-10 finishes in 2014. Although he has never competed in a race at the three-turn track, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender tested an ARCA Racing Series car for Kyle Larson earlier in the season. Larson ultimately went to victory lane after leading 68 of 80 laps in the Pocono ARCA 200.

Heating Up…Heater.com will once again be aboard the No. 31 Chevrolet Silverado. Heater.com is a world-leading heating product online retailer. The site features a wide variety of indoor and outdoor heating products to meet everyone’s needs. Heater.com gives consumers key information in the form of pictures, text and video allowing them to make the most informed buying decision. Heater.com is the “One Stop Shop for ALL Things Heating!” For more information, visit the company’s web site at www.heater.com.

Meet & Greet…Fans attending the race at Pocono Raceway can meet Kennedy and other NCWTS competitors in the Pocono Mountains 150 at the series autograph session on Friday, August 1. The session will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Chalet Village located behind Turn 3 by the Gate 8 ticket booth.

This Week’s Silverado…Kennedy and the No. 31 Heater.com crew will utilize chassis TSM-603 this week at Pocono Raceway. This chassis was last used by James Buescher in the spring 2013 event at Iowa Speedway where he earned a third-place finish.

Watch and Listen…The Pocono Mountains 150 can be seen live on Saturday, August 2 at 12:30 p.m. EDT on FOX Sports 1. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Previous Race Recap…Kennedy and the No. 31 Heater.com team overcame an unlucky qualifying draw and a heat race spin to earn a top-15 finish in the Daytona Beach native’s dirt track debut at Eldora Speedway. After taking the green flag from the 21st position, Kennedy learned quickly over the course of the challenging race, bringing home a 13th-place finish in the second annual Mudsummer Classic.

Ben Kennedy on Pocono Raceway:

“I’ve never had a chance to compete in a race at Pocono, but I tested Kyle Larson’s ARCA car earlier this season to help out those guys, so I’ve gotten a little bit of experience at the track. I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot about the tunnel turn; you really have to get used to it. The straightaways are really, really long. It seems like a cool track overall and the people who run the place are good family friends, so it’s somewhere I look forward to going to on a race weekend and taking it all in. I’m really excited to get behind the wheel of a truck there for the first time.”
