Ron Hornaday NCWTS Preview: Pocono Raceway

Gettin’ Tricky…The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) heads to Pocono Raceway for the 11th of 22 races in 2014. Ron Hornaday Jr. has four previous starts at the 2.5-mile tri-oval and has earned a best start of seventh (2011) and a best finish of sixth (2013).

Tricky Stats…As the series approaches the season’s halfway mark, Hornaday enters the race at the Tricky Triangle with an average finish of 9.4, which is better than his season-ending finishing averages since winning his fourth NCWTS championship in 2009 (Hornaday’s average finish that season was 6.4). Hornaday hopes to continue the positive trend in the second half of the season as he chases his fifth-career championship.

Previous Race Recap…Hornaday looked to put together a solid run in his second NCWTS race at Eldora Speedway. The four-time Truck Series champion and his Exide team accomplished that feat, leading 17 laps and bringing home a runner-up finish for Turner Scott Motorsports at Eldora.

Watch and Listen…The Pocono Mountains 150 can be seen live on Saturday, August 2 at 12:30 p.m. EDT on FOX Sports 1. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Ron Hornaday Jr. on Racing at Pocono Raceway

“Pocono is a big, fast, flat track with a lot of room to move around. Every turn is so different, and you’ve got the bump to contend with, so it’s different than any other place we run. This Rheem Comfort Products team has been running so well, and we just haven’t been able to get to victory lane just yet, but last week’s race in Eldora was a real shot in the arm for me and this team. I’d love to get these guys a win this weekend.”
