Michael Annett to Compete in Truck Series Race at Eldora

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie Michael Annett will compete in the second running of Eldora Speedway’s Mudsummer Classic, a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on dirt, piloting the No. 14 TMC Transportation Chevrolet Silverado for NTS Motorsports.

Last year the inaugural event drew a sellout crowd and record television ratings, sparking the imagination of a fan base eager for sliding, mud-slinging action. It also piqued the interest of Annett. Eldora has a special meaning to the 28-year-old driver, whose father Harrold owned one of the most prestigious Sprint Car teams in dirt racing history.

His No. 14 truck will be adorned by the black and gold of TMC, a color scheme familiar to fans of dirt racing. Current Annett partner Allstate Peterbilt Group will adorn the Silverado’s tonneau cover.

The Mudsummer Classic will air live on Wednesday night, July 23 on FOX Sports 1 at 9 pm Eastern.

MICHAEL ANNETT, DRIVER:

“After watching last year’s race at Eldora, I knew I wanted to be a part of the next one. TMC and NTS Motorsports are providing me with a great opportunity to go race at a place that means a lot to my family and me.”

BOB NEWBERRY, OWNER:

“When NASCAR decided to add Eldora to the Camping World Truck Series schedule, it gave a lot of drivers a chance to go back to their roots and compete on dirt. Having Michael in the No. 14 truck, at a track that means a lot to his family, will be exciting.”

JOHN MONSAM, CREW CHIEF:

“I’ve been to Eldora just once in my life, for the King’s Royal in 1989, and loved it. I’m looking forward to going back and working with Michael for the first time. The NTS crew has done a tremendous job of preparing a really nice truck.”
