Flat Tire Spoils Promising run for Jason White At Iowa

A flat right-front tire just past lap 60 in the Third Annual Coca-Cola 200 presented by Hy-Vee at Iowa Speedway resulted in a 25th-place finish for Jason White and Joe Denette Motorsports in the 11th event on the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule.

After rolling off the grid 16th in the No. 23 GunBroker.com Chevrolet, White made quick-work of the trucks ahead of him, settling in to the top-10 by lap 40 of the 200-lap event. However, at lap 64, White radioed into his crew that he had a flat right-front tire. Fortunately, a caution for debris was displayed one lap later. White made his way down pit road at lap 65 for two right side tires.

The unfortunate event forced the No. 23 machine back down pit road for multiple laps to replace the right-front sway bar arm. When White rejoined the field, the yellow and black Chevrolet was scored 8 laps down to the race leader.


White spent the next 120 circuit's mired laps down, still running lap times as fast as the leaders. The GunBroker.com team took every opportunity to work on the handling of the No. 23 machine, gaining three positions on track before settling in for a 25th-place finish, 10 laps down to race winner, Matt Crafton. This was the rookie team's first finish outside the top-20 since Martinsville in April.


"The GunBroker.com Chevrolet was really good right off the truck this weekend. I got a little tight in qualifying but knew we were really good in race trim."


"It was so unfortunate that we cut a tire early on. We were fast. I had just made my way into the top-10 and we were running about five-tenths faster than the leaders when it happened. It makes me sick because I knew how good our truck was. It ruined our chance of a good finish because we were multiple laps down the remainder of the night. We were forced to change a sway bar arm on pit road and lost a lot of track position. Multiple laps down, we were still running lap times as fast as the leaders. The good news is, we learned a lot about this chassis that we are running in Nashville next weekend."
