David Starr Brings Momentum to Iowa

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran David Starr is coming off of an eighth place finish at Kentucky that jumped him three positions in the season point standings and gives the SS Green Light Racing team momentum heading into a five week stretch that ends at Pocono on August 6th.

Starr and the SS Green Light team have been plagued with bad luck early in 2011 and has four finishes outside-the top-25, uncharacteristic for Starr through his long career in the series. The team is upbeat after their third top-ten of the year and is poised and ready to get the Zachry No. 81 Toyota to the 7/8 mile short-track at Iowa Speedway for the eleventh race of the 2011 NCWTS season.

The Coca-Cola 200 presented by Hy-Vee will mark the third time the trucks have visited the Iowa Speedway making it one of the newer tracks the series visits along with Chicagoland and Pocono.

“Iowa is one of the newest tracks on the circuit and over the last couple years I’ve had a difficult time getting acclimated to the track, it’s been very challenging for me. Hopefully coming off of a good finish for us at Kentucky we’ll have a little momentum that will carry us through Iowa.”

“Our Zachry racing team and everybody at SS Green Light Racing is looking forward to going to Iowa,” said Starr. “During the three-week break before Kentucky we had a chance to go and test at Gresham Motorsports Park and hopefully that test will pay dividends for us at Iowa.”

“I know everyone is excited to get there and get racing, we are going to bring our Phoenix truck this week and feel it will be pretty good at Iowa. It’s always an exciting track and the race fans are great, it’s just a beautiful facility and the Truck Series always puts on a great race, Starr continued. “We want this week to be a little bit different with the No.81 Toyota running up near the front somewhere. I can’t wait to get there and get started.”

“We have Zachry back on the hood this week and we’re excited about that and our goal is to come back and get us another top-ten finish. I know that Jason Miller, Matt and all the SS Green Light crew members are ready to go and have a great run there.”

The NCWTS has only competed twice at the Iowa Speedway and in the two starts David has a best finish of tenth coming last year in the No. 81 Zachry Toyota. He has with an average start of 17.0 and an average finish of 18.0.

The Coca-Cola 200 presented by Hy-Vee is the 256th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 276th career start and 199th consecutive start for Starr in the Truck Series. David has accumulated four wins, 45 top-fives and 110 top-tens in his 14-year career.

There are only 32 trucks on the preliminary entry list for the Coca-Cola 200 presented by Hy-Vee.
