NCWTS: Chase Pistone Leads First Gateway Practice

Chase Pistone, who has yet to race at Gateway Motorsports Park, paced the first practice session on Friday with a fast time of 33.054 seconds, 136.141 mph. He goes into this race making his third career start, with his last at the Martinsville Speedway in April. This weekend he hopes to capture his first career top-10 finish, which he would love to make that a win.

Finishing second in the session was Justin Lofton, who is practicing the No. 20 for Gray Gaulding, who is off at Five-Flags Speedway for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event. Just like Pistone, Gaulding hopes to capture that first top-10 finish that the 16-year-old badly needs. Lofton posted a fast time of 33.232 seconds, 135.497 mph. He was just 0.157 seconds off of the leader.

Rounding out the top-three was Jeb Burton who posted a fast time of 33.232 seconds, 135.412 mph. Burton comes into Gateway hoping for his third top-10 finish of the 2014 racing season and would certainly love to take his new sponsor to victory lane. Burton never made a start here and would love to add his name to the list of eleite drivers who has scored a victory at the 1.25-mile oval.

There was only one incident in the first practice involving the No. 8 of John Hunter Nemechek. Nemechek got into the wall just slightly in the opening minutes, which the team was able to fix and got the 17-year-old back out just before the session came to a close.
