NCWTS: John Hunter Nemechek Hopes to Backup Strong Finish

This past weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway, Joe Nemechek finished the WinStar World Casino 400k with his second best finish ever in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series by finishing in third. Nemechek hopes that this finish will give the team plenty of momentum going into Gateway Motorsports Park, the site of Saturday's Drivin' for Lineman 200.

Although, this weekend at the 1.25-mile oval in St. Louis, you will see a different Nemechek behind the wheel as it'll be his son, John Hunter Nemechek. This weekend will mark his fifth ever start in the series and his third of the 2014 season. Something that will even give him more confidence is the fact that he comes into this weekend fresh off a sixth-place finish at the Dover International Speedway three weeks ago. Even though Gateway is 1.25-miles in length, it races like a short track, so Nemechek will have a lot of confidence heading into this weekend.

"I think this gives us some good momentum heading into this weekend." said John Hunter Nemechek. "It's almost a rivalry between my dad and I of who can compete and have the best finish in the series. It felt good to top it with a sixth-place finish at Dover, but he came out with a top-three at Texas, so we're definitely looking forward to have a top-five finish here this weekend."

Earlier this afternoon at the Gateway Motorsports Park, Nemechek had a little incident at the beginning of the first Camping World Truck Series practice that damaged his right side after making slight contact with the wall just minutes into the session. The racing team was able to make repairs to the truck to get him back out in the time remaining.
