Nemechek supports University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center at TMS

As Joe Nemechek and his SWM-NEMCO Motorsports team travel to the backyard of the SWM campus, they will once again give The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center a high-speed salute as they sport the MD Anderson logo on their No. 8 Toyota Tundra in this weekend’s WinStar World Casino & Resort 400 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Texas Motor Speedway. Sid Mauldin, owner of SWM Gun Runners located in Pampa, TX and partner in SWM-NEMCO Motorsports, is currently receiving treatment at MD Anderson located in Houston, TX. Carrying the logo gives him the opportunity to share his experience with the NASCAR community while showing support for the facility that has provided such impeccable care.

Nemechek is sharing the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule with his 16-year old son, John Hunter, who finished a career-best sixth at Dover International Speedway this past weekend.  It was the younger Nemechek’s first time racing on the track in Dover and only fourth career start in the series.  John Hunter Nemechek leads the “friendly family challenge” with his best finish being the sixth at Dover, to his father’s eighth at Daytona. The team sits seventh in the NCWTS owner’s standings – a mere nine points out of second.

Nemechek and his SWM-NEMCO team will race a brand new truck in the WinStar World Casino & Resort 400 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday, June 6. Relying on support from their Toyota racing family, the team looks for continued improvement as they enter their sixth event of the season.

Nemechek has a total of 42 NASCAR starts at Texas Motor Speedway but this will be his first in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He has one win at TMS – in the NASCAR Nationwide (then Busch Grand National) Series race on March 29, 2003.

Next week, John Hunter Nemechek returns to the seat of the No. 8 Toyota Tundra for the Drivin’ for Linemen 200 at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL. At age 16, Nemechek is limited to tracks of 1.25 miles or less.
