Red Horse Racing Shuts Down Brian Ickler's Truck Ride Due to Lack of Funding

On Tuesday Red Horse Racing announced that they have shut down the No. 7 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team that Brian Ickler drove the first four races of the 2014 season for. Lack of funding was the primary reason for the shutdown since Bullet Liner, the sponsor that was on Ickler's truck the first four races, was only signed through Friday night's race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Ickler had three did not finishes after crashes at Daytona, Kansas, and at Charlotte. The accident at Charlotte was unfortunate because he was running in the top 10 and had nowhere to go when Ryan Blaney was forced into the infield grass and then came back across the track. In his interview after the accident Ickler knew his ride could be in jeopardy. Ickler's only finish of the season came at Martinsville where he was tenth. Ickler was running strong at Kansas when he lost control of the truck and pounded the wall.

"We have been a competitive fixture for nine years in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and in order to remain so, sometimes requires difficult decisions to be made. Brian Ickler is a very talented driver and an upstanding young man, and we will continue to search for sponsorship opportunities for him. He did a great job for us at Red Horse Racing," Red Horse Racing owner Tom DeLoach said.

DeLoach went onto say that the decision will also help the team focus on their other two teams and the championship hunt. Currently Timothy Peters is second in the points, 11 behind Matt Crafton and German Quiroga is third, 18 points back.

Ickler was sitting 19th in the driver standings after the four races and was 79 points behind Crafton.

The next race up for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is the Lucas Oil 200 at Dover International Speedway on Friday, May 30th.
