Peck Motorsports Announces Collaboration with Arthritis Foundation Team Brings Awareness to Juvenile Arthritis During Five-Race Schedule

Peck Motorsports announced today a collaboration with the Arthritis Foundation during the team’s five-race NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule this season to promote awareness of juvenile arthritis (JA), the leading cause of childhood disability and one of the most common chronic childhood illnesses affecting 300,000 children. The announcement was made during Juvenile Arthritis Month in front of more than 1,000 children and their families attending the 2011 Juvenile Arthritis Conference in Washington D.C.  Driver Todd Peck was on hand as the team unveiled its No. 96 Arthritis Foundation “Kids get Arthritis Too” paint scheme that will debut next weekend during the Iowa 200 at the Iowa Speedway.

The collaboration will provide an opportunity for children and their families to attend races with the team and spend time with Todd Peck who suffered from JA as a child.  Peck has proven that having JA doesn’t slow you down and you can achieve your goals and dreams in life.  The team will also bring awareness by carrying the Arthritis Foundation and “Kids Get Arthritis Too” logo on their truck for the scheduled events they will participate in.

“The Arthritis Foundation through its ‘Kids get Arthritis Too’ platform is the perfect partner for our team,” commented Todd Peck. “I suffered from juvenile arthritis as a child, and I know firsthand what it is like for kids dealing with it.  I know how tough it can be for them to do things that most of us take for granted, but hopefully we can inspire them that they can still reach their dreams.”

“I’m glad we will be able to introduce them to NASCAR,” continued Peck.   “This sport has so many loyal and dedicated fans, and hopefully the support that the Arthritis Foundation will receive from them will speak volumes.”

After the team makes its debut at Iowa, they will plan to host children and families at the AAA Insurance 200 at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Ind. on July 29 and the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on August 24. The final two races on the team’s schedule will be the F.W. Babb 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 24 and the Kroger 200 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on October 29.

The collaboration enables the Arthritis Foundation to generate exposure, and in return increase donations which are invested in research program that lead to critical discoveries as well as advocacy education, outreach, research, advocacy and other vital programs and services.

“Seeing our children suffer from such a severe and painful disease is heartbreaking and unacceptable,” said Barbara Newhouse, CEO of the Arthritis Foundation, Mid Atlantic Region. “We are looking forward to our collaboration with Peck Motorsports during their limited schedule in 2011 and are excited to have been able to launch the collaboration in the Mid Atlantic Region.  The exposure will help us create awareness of juvenile arthritis among NASCAR fans. We’ve seen overwhelming support from NASCAR with charitable organizations and we are pleased to partner with Todd and the team.”

Todd Peck started his career driving go-karts before advancing to the Allison Legacy Series. He has more than 15 starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and currently competes in the Super Cup Stock Car Series. While Todd is new to the national ranks, the team is not. His father, Dr. Mike Peck, and uncle, Tom Peck, previously competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series throughout the 90s. The family-operated team was able to collect more than 50 top-10 finishes in five full seasons with Tom behind the wheel.
