German Quiroga Red Horse Racing: Kansas Race Advance

This Week’s OtterBox Toyota Tundra at Kansas Speedway… Germán  Quiroga will be piloting chassis No. 007 this weekend at Kansas Speedway. Quiroga drove this Toyota Tundra in 2013 at Texas Motor Speedway (October) and at the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway (November) where he finished seventh. In the off season this chassis was updated with a new 2014 body.

Quiroga at Kansas Speedway… Quiroga’s only previous start at Kansas Speedway was last May when the rookie driver started 12th and drove his way into the top five. Halfway through the 167-lap event he got tangled up with another competitor. The Red Horse Racing team made repairs to the No. 77 Toyota Tundra and after being scored a lap down to the leader, Quiroga powered through the pack, earned his lap back and finished 11th.

Quiroga off to a great start for his sophomore season… Quiroga has earned two top-10 finishes in as many races this season and is comfortably sitting seventh in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship point standings. This is the Mexico City native’s second season of full-time competition in the Truck Series and his second season with Red Horse Racing. In his rookie campaign he earned two top-five and six top-10 finishes, and became the first Mexican-born driver to earn a pole award at an oval race track when he took home the honors at Iowa Speedway in July 2013.

Race Rewind: Martinsville Speedway… The last race on the schedule for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series was the Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway in March. After qualifying was cancelled by rain, the field was set per the NASCAR rule book and Quiroga rolled off eighth in the No. 77 NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra. He ran inside the top 10 for most of the race, running ninth with 30 laps remaining in the scheduled 250-lap event. A late-race caution set up a green-white-checkered finish and the Mexico City native was scored with a seventh-place result, earning his second top-10 finish in as many races this season.

German Quiroga Reaches Hispanic Community at Hispanicize… German Quiroga traveled to Miami, Florida in April to take part in Hispanicize 2014. This conference is the largest annual event for Latino trendsetters and newsmakers in social media, journalism, advertising, PR, film, music and innovation. While there, Quiroga visited Hispanic media outlets including Telemundo, Univision, and ESPN Deportes – Miami. Quiroga served as an advocate to the Latin American community for both Toyota and NASCAR, who sponsored the event, and participated in a ride and drive as well as an autograph and Q&A session.

GERMÁN QUIROGA QUOTES:

On his goals for this season… “Our goal is to keep earning as many points as we can each race weekend to be in a position to battle for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Championship at the end of the season. I really like working with my new crew chief, Butch Hylton. Each weekend I’ve been learning a lot and I’m so proud of everyone at the shop. They’ve worked really hard to give me a fast No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra for this weekend at Kansas Speedway.”

On returning to Kansas Speedway with his rookie season under his belt… “Last year was my first time competing at Kansas Speedway. I was doing pretty well, battling for third at one point, and I was able to learn a lot about the track during that race. I feel better prepared heading there this season, we were able to test the No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra at Charlotte Motor Speedway and I think it’s going to be a good race for us.”
