Tyler Young 2014 NCWTS Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway Race Preview

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) is a series like no other, with tough, rugged trucks going fender-to-fender on race tracks all across the United States. As the series closes the page on the first race of the season at one of the largest tracks on the 22-race schedule, they embark on the second race of the season at the shortest paved track on the 2014 schedule – Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

Martinsville Speedway is often referred to as a “paper clip,” and is banked 12 degrees in the turns. As one of the first paved oval tracks in NASCAR, the .526-mile short track is also rich in history and is the only racetrack that has been on the NASCAR circuit from its beginnings in 1948.

The NCWTS made its debut at the Ridgeway, Va. track in September of 1995 and has made 30 starts to date. The track has seen 23 different winners including last fall’s winner, 2013 Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, Darrell Wallace, Jr.

2014 Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, Tyler Young hopes to make it two in a row at Martinsville Speedway in this weekend’s Kroger 250. As one of only nine tracks on the 2014 schedule that the Midland, Tex. native has raced on, Young hopes to capitalize on his past track experience and “Clock-in” to victory lane on Saturday.
