The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has been on hiatus since the February season opener at Daytona International Speedway and teams and drivers are ready to return to racing at Martinsville Speedway Saturday, March 29, 2014.
John Wes Townley comes off a 14th-place finish at Daytona and is ready to conquer the famed .526-mile paper clipped shaped track in Martinsville, Virginia in the No. 5 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra with Wauters Motorsports.
Townley has four previous starts at Martinsville Speedway, posting his best Camping World Truck Series finish of 13th-place in 2013.
“Martinsville is a really racy track; it is definitely a challenging short track,” John Wes Townley said. “The best part though, is that it really brings you back to your roots of racing. I grew up racing on the short tracks and it brings back great memories. I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the truck. The break between Daytona and Martinsville is so long. I know myself and the guys on this Wauters Motorsports team are ready to get on a more consistent schedule.”
Wauters Motorsports has three previous entries on the South Virginia short track. Owner, Richie Wauters, in his tenure as a crew chief, has 14 starts under his belt, posting three top-five and seven top-10 finishes at Martinsville Speedway.
The Kroger 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is slated to begin Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:30pm.
Fox Sports 1’s live telecast of the Kroger 250 begins at 2:30pm. Radio coverage begins at 2:00pm on MRN & Sirius Satellite NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
