Townley Looks for Top Finish at Daytona in the No. 5 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra

John Wes Townley piloting the No. 5 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra will take to the track for the running of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season opener Friday, February 21, 2013 at Daytona International Speedway, competing in his first race with Wauters Motorsports.

The Watkinsville, Georgia driver has one previous NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start and three NASCAR Nationwide Series starts on the famed 2.5-mile superspeedway. In his tenure in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Townley has had six previous starts, posting three top-five finishes and a win in 2013 at the Daytona Beach, Florida racetrack.

Townley joined Wauters Motorsports in 2014 after a career best 2013 NCWTS season where he scored seven top-10 finishes, including a pair of sixth-places finishes at Chicagoland Speedway & Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“I’m looking forward to driving the No. 5 Zaxby’s Toyota with Wauters Motorsports,” John Wes Townley said. “Richie (Wauters) has always had a great reputation for building top equipment and we hope to post some wins and be in the chase for the 2014 Championship at season’s end.

I’m excited about heading to Daytona for the truck series race.  We had a great test in January where the Tundra was pretty close to the top of the board the entire time. Daytona is a crapshoot though, with all the drafting going on you could be first or last within seconds.  You need to really concentrate on these restrictor plate tracks, use the draft to your advantage and be there at the end for the win. That is what we are planning on doing in the Zaxby’s Tundra. It should be an exciting race for the fans and the competitors on Friday night,” Townley continued.
