Father and Son Nemecheks Announce a Full Truck Season For SWM-NEMCO Racing

SWM-NEMCO Motorsports today announced unprecedented plans for father and son Joe and John Hunter Nemechek to share a tag-team single season of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for 2014.

This move allows the #8 truck, owned by SWM-NEMCO Racing, to run the whole season with John Hunter racing the 10 races at all the tracks that NASCAR allows at his age of 16. His dad, Joe will be mounting a campaign at racing the other 12.  John Hunter will be running a combo of short track and one mile ovals, coupled with a road course and a dirt track. “Front Row Joe” will be taking the balance of the season at the larger tracks and super speedways. In the elite club of a few drivers with more than 1000 starts, only seven of those starts have been in a truck, with a best finish of 2nd place for the senior Nemechek.

Sponsorship partners are in process for supporting the Father-Son #8 NASCAR Camping World Truck entry along with primary principle supporter Pelletgrillusa.com.

“We all have our bucket lists and racing the truck for a win is on mine,” said Joe Nemechek. “Trucks are a lot of fun with the high down force and less horsepower. And what better way to make a run for it than with the excitement of sharing the season with my son, and giving him the best possibility to run well.”

“While there are about 10 well-known drivers with fathers and sons who have raced, they typically have raced each other or raced chronologically in time rather than sharing the season,” said Sid Mauldin, owner of SWM and partner in SWM-NEMCO Motorsports. “What a great momentum builder this is for our first full ownership season, to be teaming up to keep the #8 SWM-NEMCO truck running all year long in the Camping World Series.”

Nemechek met Mauldin at Bristol three years ago and ignited his interest in racing by sharing his passion and ethics for the sport.  The two have been grooming their plans for this unique opportunity.

“There is one exciting season ahead for us here in 2014 and I am so appreciative of the opportunities that are just ahead,” said John Hunter Nemechek, the 16 year old driver who was the winningest Allison Legacy driver and 2012 champion.  “This year’s motto for every race is ‘In it to win it’. With Pelletgrillusa.com aboard the #8 SWM-NEMCO truck for some of our season, we will be adding partners along the way to make the best possible runs all year long.”
