Jeb Burton Reportedly Out at Turner-Scott Motorsports Due to Sponsorship Woes, Paludo Out Too
Jeb Burton's 2014 season was shaping up to be an important year for the 21 year old driver from South Boston, Virginia. Burton, the son of 2002 Daytona 500 champion Ward Burton, was coming off a successful rookie season in 2013 and had a full-time sponsorship deal with Arrowhead Electronic Cigarettes. It looked like all was in place for a successful run at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title for the youngster
Well on Monday news broke that sources say that Arrowhead Electronic Cigarettes has abruptly pulled its support off the #4 Turner-Scott Motorsports Chevrolet and Burton and the team are now in limbo for the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.
In 2013 the IRS raided Cherokee Tabacco LLC, the parent company of Arrowhead Electronic Cigarettes, seizing business records. It is unknown whether or not the investigation has any link to company pulling support on the #4 team. Burton was one of the fastest trucks in preseason testing at Daytona International Speedway a couple weeks ago and now appears to not be heading to the 15th annual NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the facility.
The news shatters all the plans the team had of competeing for the Camping World Truck Series championship. Burton had a win and 11 top ten finishes in 22 starts in 2013 and finished fifth in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series point standings. It was believed the team would improve on that and make a run at the championship.
The team or Burton could not be reached for comment.
There was also more news out of Turner-Scott Motorsports on Monday as driver Miguel Paludo announced via twitter he does not have a full-time ride in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2014. The 30 year old Brazilian driver had run three full seasons in the Camping World Truck Series recording 25 top ten finishes in 73 starts.
