John Wes Townley Red Horse Racing Texas Motor Speedway Team Advance

MAKING A NAME: John Wes Townley has made a name for himself during his first full NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season and first full season with Red Horse Racing. The driver of the No. 7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra enters Texas Motor Speedway on Friday night with pep in his step and full of momentum. With only three races remaining in the 2013 season, Townley is determined to make his mark and the 1.5-mile quad oval just might be the place to do so. In three starts, Townley has an average starting position of 10.7 and an average finishing position of 19.3.

The intermediate program has undoubtedly been a favorite of the No. 7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra team as it has collected four top-10 finishes in seven races. Townley has also beaten his career high finish twice this season both on intermediate tracks (seventh at Michigan International Speedway, sixth at Chicagoland Speedway).

WHAT’S NEW AT YOUR LOCAL ZAXBY’S: Zaxby’s, a southeast favorite for chicken fingers and wings, has been indescribably good for more than 20 years. The Athens, Georgia based chain offers its guests prepared-at-order Chicken Fingerz, Traditional or Boneless Wings, sandwiches, Zalads and Zappetizers, along with a variety of nine sauces ranging from Wimpy and Tongue Torch to Nuclear and Insane. A meal to rival all others, fans can score big with Zaxby’s new Fan Special. The meal includes four signature Chicken Fingers, Crinkle Fries, Texas Toast, Zax Sauce and a Large Beverage. It’s a FAN-tastic deal and only around for a limited time. The company operates more than 585 locations in 13 states. CHASSIS HISTORY: John Wes Townley feels confident in Chassis No. 016 that his No. 7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra team will unload this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. As one of the most recent chassis built in the Red Horse Racing stable, Townley debuted the chassis at Chicagoland Speedway. It succeeded with shining colors as Townley collected his career high Truck Series finish (sixth).

REARVIEW MIRROR – MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY: John Wes Townley arrived at Martinsville Speedway bringing with him a lot of momentum having three consecutive top-10 finishes and five consecutive top-12 finishes over the last five races. The driver of the No. 7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra qualified 17th and battled loose conditions at the beginning of the Kroger 200. The restart on lap 134 was a scuffle for position, forcing Townley back to the 18th spot. As the laps wound down, Townley continued to fight back for position claiming a 13th-place finish at the paperclip.

John Wes Townley on Texas Motor Speedway:

What can you attribute your success this season to?

“I’d say our Toyota Tundras and the support I have behind me with my Red Horse Racing team. This year has been like nothing I have experienced so far in racing. When you have the confidence behind you and the equipment never gives up, you keep building on that each week. I think it’s helped my entire Zaxby’s team overall. We try to be consistent and continue to work our way up.

What is so special to you about racing at Texas Motor Speedway?

“We tested at Texas earlier this year and I’ve always liked intermediate race tracks. Mike (Beam, crew chief) and I both are looking forward to racing the truck we are taking. That Tundra gave me my career best finish, so I’m glad we are taking it to Texas. The truck has great down force and handles really well behind other trucks. I think if I’ve ever had a shot at a win in the Truck Series, this would be it.”
