Despite Talladega Troubles; Mason Mingus Win-Tron Racing Remain Focused

After a superb 12th place qualifying effort this past weekend at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut, Mason Mingus and his Win-Tron Racing team only completed five laps in the fred’s 250, before succumbing to an oil leak in their No. 35 Call 811 Before You Dig / Mark-It! Madness Chevrolet Silverado.

While there were no words to utter their disappointment for their finish, the Mooresville, North Carolina-based team and their Brentwood, Tennessee native rookie driver remain upbeat and confident that they can claim redemption in their next NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway on November 8.

“Talladega started out as a really good weekend for us. I was happy with our 12th place qualifying run and felt good about the truck for the race,” said Mingus. “It was extremely unfortunate what happened during the race, it was something we probably could have learned if we would have drafted in practice, but at the time we needed to focus on qualifying, because we didn’t have points and on top of that, we didn’t have a back-up truck if something went wrong.

“Still, I’m excited to go to Phoenix in a couple weeks and have a chance for myself and the entire Win-Tron Racing organization to redeem ourselves and show what we are actually capable of.”

In-between his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series duties, Mingus will return to Super Late Model racing and compete in the All-American 400 at the Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville next weekend, November 1-2.

A few weeks ago, Mingus notched an impressive third place run in the Winchester 400 at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway, another prestigious Late Model event ran on October 13.

“I love getting to go run Late Model races. It’s a chance to relax and go have fun without the pressure of points racing. We’re coming off a good run at Winchester and our test at Nashville went pretty good, so I’m optimistic about the race. The best part of the All-American 400? It’s in my backyard, so I’ll have a lot of support for the race. Hopefully, we can capitalize on Winchester and score the win.”

Mason Mingus has 34 ARCA Racing Series races to his credit. During that tenure, he has acquired five top-fives and 25 top-10 finishes, including second-place runs at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Toledo Speedway and Berlin (Mich.) Raceway in August 2013. Additionally, two pole runs at Mobile (Ala.) International Speedway (March 2013) and Iowa Speedway (September 2013), is his best time trials effort to date.

In addition to Talladega, Mingus and Win-Tron Racing will also compete in the final two NCWTS races of the year from Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway (November 8) and Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway (November 15) respectively.
