Peters Ready For Homecoming

It’s homecoming for Red Horse Racing No. 17 driver Timothy Peters this weekend in Martinsville Speedway. Every time the NCWTS approaches this paperclip of Martinsville you can feel the adrenaline and momentum going in Peters favor.

When Peters joined the Red Horse organization he’s been to Martinsville 8-times with the team and has impressively finished inside the top ten 7-times. The No. 17 Toyota Tundra will have the same chassis it finished 5th with at Martinsville earlier this season, Peters also put this chassis on the pole last year in this event and broke the track record.

A disappointing crash in turn-3 at the treacherous track of Talladega disallowed Peters to compete for the win last Saturday as he’d come home 29th. Peters is hoping to rebound from last weekend and mimic exactly what he did in Las Vegas a few weeks back, head to victory lane.

“I feel pretty good about it. Martinsville fits my driving style. Maybe because this is where I started racing and where I grew up. I’ve had a lot of laps around Martinsville lately with my Late Model and then with the test last week in our Parts Plus Tundra. This is the time in the season when our momentum kicks into high gear. It’d be really nice to walk out on Saturday night with a grandfather clock.”

Peters competed recently in the Virginia for Lovers 300 at Martinsville Speedway, which if you didn’t know is the biggest late model event of the year. A long and grueling 300 laps the rookie and experienced driver faced, and at the end of the day Peters finished a disappointing 25th after being spun around 2-times during the event.

It’s hard to believe 2009 is when Peters snatched his first NCWTS victory and it was right at his home track. Being at home and with family has played a huge roll in Peters success at Martinsville Speedway.

“You know it’s always great to have your family and friends at the race track there to cheer you on and support you. Like Dorothy (Relative) says, there’s no place like home. I’ve got so many fond memories at this racetrack, it’s just always great to be here.”
