German Quiroga Red Horse Racing Martinsville Speedway Team Advance

TIME TO REDEEM: There isn’t anything better for a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year contender to walk into than a track he’s already competed on. That holds true this weekend for Germán Quiroga as he enters Saturday’s Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway. Quiroga and his No. 77 OtterBox/NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra driver has one thing on his mind when entering the 0.526-mile short track and it is redemption.

During Quiroga’s debut at the paperclip, Quiroga qualified in the fifth position and maintained position inside the top-10 for the majority of the first half of the race. A part failure relegated the team to a 29th-place finish. After a day of testing prior to the weekend’s 200 lap event, the No. 77 Toyota Tundra team will be a force to reckon with as they fight back towards salvation.

JOINT VENTURE: The shared primary sponsorship continues this weekend at Martinsville Speedway with OtterBox and NET10 Wireless aboard the No. 77 Toyota Tundra. The scheme, slightly different this weekend as OtterBox and NET10 Wireless swap Hoods and TV panels for Quarter Panels. It’s a perfect pairing with the no-contract cell phone leader, NET10 Wireless featuring the Samsung Galaxy and the No. 1 selling phone case protector OtterBox. The duo shares primary sponsorship on the final three of the four races at Martinsville Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway.

CHASSIS HISTORY: Quiroga and his No. 77 OtterBox/NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra team will bring short track Chassis No. 002 this weekend to Martinsville Speedway. At the Iowa Speedway race in July, Quiroga set a new track record on the way to becoming the first Mexican-born driver to collect a pole in a National division of NASCAR. Quiroga followed up his performance by finishing sixth at Iowa Speedway in September. The Chassis also earned a 13th-place at Dover International Speedway and was raced at Martinsville Speedway in April where Quiroga qualified fifth.

REARVIEW MIRROR – TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY: The three-time NASCAR Mexico Series champion qualified 19th for the 94-lap event and made his way inside the top-10 after only three laps. His NET10 Wireless/OtterBox machine was dialed in for Superspeedway racing as he maneuvered his way back inside the top-10 on lap 37. Quiroga was scored as high as third but would settle into fifth position as the front of the field raced single-file. After pitting under green he was caught a lap down as the caution flag flew. The Tundra driver made it all the way back up into the 17th position before getting caught in a six-truck pile up in turn three. The accident ended the day for the No. 77 NET10 Wireless/OtterBox Tundra being scored 31st at race’s end.

Germán Quiroga on Martinsville Speedway:

How did the test go at Martinsville Speedway?

“I think we have a great package to start with. We tested our OtterBox/NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra all over the map so we have a good notebook to come back with. Our baseline is very good and I know we are strong and fast. We were a little loose on our setup in the spring, so we worked on that to be better on the long runs. Tire management is also very important at short tracks like Martinsville, so we worked on that as well.

What is a goal for you returning to Martinsville Speedway for a second time this season?

“It was my first top-five qualifying effort in NASCAR in the beginning of the year. I am hoping to repeat or do better. We really need to manage tires there till the end of the race. I am expecting to have a top-five finish.”
