Dakoda Armstrong Las Vegas Motor Speedway NCWTS Advance

Beginner’s Luck… A weekend of firsts lies ahead for Dakoda Armstrong and the No. 60 Turn One Racing team in Las Vegas for the Smith’s 350 on Saturday night. Competing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first time in his NASCAR racing young career, Armstrong and his WinField team are banking on beginner’s luck to aid them in “Sin City” for the 17th race of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season. Though he’s been to the 1.5-mile oval several times to spectate, Armstrong will be making his first laps around the track this weekend in a completely rebuilt WinField Silverado. With the addition of crew chief Doug George to the team this week, Armstrong and George will also be making their first appearance together as a duo. The team hopes a combination of firsts will be just what they need to succeed on Saturday.

New Addition… Turn One Racing confirmed Monday the addition of veteran crew chief Doug George to the team for the remainder of the season. Before joining Armstrong and the team at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in August as truck chief, George most recently served as crew chief for Jason White and the No. 23 NCWTS team in 2012. Accepting the leadership role prior to this weekend’s event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, George brings experience from nine years of NCWTS competition, along with two wins in the series.

“Our team has gone through a lot of changes this season, but I really feel strongly about the addition of Doug (George) and our chances for the last six races,” Armstrong explained. “He has done a great job with our guys since joining the team in Canada and I’m really looking forward to having some strong runs and increase our performance to close out the season.”

This Weekend’s WinField Silverado… Completely rebuilt following its debut at Eldora Speedway in July, chassis No. 51 will make its first appearance on an intermediate track this weekend. Crew chief Doug George and the Turn One Racing team specifically designed the new body and this particular Silverado for tracks like Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Pleased with the preliminary wind tunnel testing data, Armstrong and the No. 60 team are optimistic about their chances on Friday.

Previous Race Recap: Chicagoland Speedway… After recording a solid run and top-15 finish in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Chicagoland Speedway in July, Dakoda Armstrong was primed for a stout performance in the NCWTS EnjoyIllinois.com 225 on Friday, Sept. 13. Following his 21st place qualifying effort, Armstrong and his No. 60 WinField team made every attempt to improve their performance throughout the night, but came up just shy of eclipsing the 22-year-old driver’s best career finish at the 1.5-mile oval.

Dakoda Armstrong on Las Vegas…

“We haven’t had an amazing break-out run yet this year, but I know our luck has to change at some point and there’s no place better than Las Vegas. Consistency has helped us stay competitive and really helped me learn; I’ve run almost all of the laps, we’ve been able to avoid a DNF, and this is my first full season in the Truck Series. Now that we have the consistency down, it’s time to improve our speed and get our finishes up to the next level. We have a virtually brand new truck for this weekend, so I’m ready to be fast off the truck and compete up front all night on Saturday.”

Broadcast Information… The NCWTS broadcast from Chicagoland Speedway will begin live on Fox Sports 1, beginning with the NCWTS Setup at 5:00 pm ET. Radio coverage of the 145-lap event will be provided by MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 5:30 pm ET.
