Ryan Newman NCWTS Preview: Eldora Speedway

Dirt Truckin’…Ryan Newman and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) will make their way to Eldora Speedway for the inaugural Mudsummer Classic. Eldora will mark the first time in the history of the series that the trucks will race on a dirt track. Eldora joins Bristol Motor Speedway as the only two Wednesday races for the NCWTS. The No. 34 Oral-B/Aggressive Hydraulics/WIX Filters Chevy Silverado does not have a guaranteed starting spot based on 2013 NCWTS Owner Points Standings. Newman will have to qualify his way into the Mudsummer Classic one of two ways – by being the highest-finishing non-locked-in truck in his heat race or by being one of the top-four finishers in the last chance qualifier race.

Returning to Eldora…While the NCWTS is making their first start at Eldora Speedway, Newman is no stranger to the 0.5-mile dirt track located in Rossburg, Ohio. He has participated in the Prelude to the Dream late model race for the past seven years, finishing fifth in his most recent trip to the track.

This Week’s Silverado…The No. 34 Turner Scott Motorsports team will unload Chassis TSM-021 this weekend for the Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway. The team tested with this chassis at 311 Motor Speedway earlier this month.

Watch and Listen…The Mudsummer Classic can be seen live on Wednesday, July 24 on SPEED. Coverage begins with qualifying at 7:00 p.m. EDT immediately followed by NCWTS Setup at 8:30 p.m. EDT and the race at 9:00 p.m. EDT. The event can also be heard live on MotorRacingNetwork.com at 7:00 p.m. EDT, and on MRN Radio at 8:30 p.m. EDT. SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90 coverage begins at 9:00 p.m. EDT.

Crew Chief Chris Carrier on Racing at Eldora Speedway:

“I can’t wait to see the racing. Eldora has a lot of history, which I love. It’s the first time the truck series has ever been on dirt, and I think it will be entertaining for the fans. Ryan had a really good test with us at 311 Speedway, and I’m looking forward to being on the track at the end and hopefully in victory lane.”

Ryan Newman on Racing at Eldora Speedway:

“I’m ready to have some fun at Eldora. We tested at 311 Motor Speedway and that was an interesting experience in the truck, to say the least. Trucks on a dirt track are completely different from cars. You certainly can’t drive them the same way you drive a dirt car. The race is sold out so there will be a ton of fans there to support the race, which will be nice. I’m looking forward to getting out there and competing for the win.”
