German Quiroga Red Horse Racing Eldora Speedway Team Advance

QUIROGA CONTINUES TO MAKE HISTORY: Three-time Mexico Series champion, Germán Quiroga has a list of goals during his 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. Week-by-week the driver of the No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra continues to check them off. Quiroga became the first Mexican born driver to win a pole in a national division of NASCAR at Iowa Speedway on July 13th. Next on the list for the Rookie of the Year contender, is to be a competitor for the win during The CarCash Mudsummer Classic presented by CNBC Prime’s “The Profit” at Eldora Speedway throughout the Wednesday night showdown.

RACE FORMAT: Eldora isn’t just a different race track for the Series but it also brings a different format. NASCAR has reduced the number of entries for the 0.5-mile clay track from 36 trucks to 30. The field will have two laps of qualifying (top-20 in owner’s points locked in) followed by five, eight-lap heat races. Your qualifying spot will determine your heat race. After the heat races are complete, there will be a 15-lap ‘last chance race’ that will lock in the 30 Trucks for the 75-mile race. The 150-lap race consists of three segments: 60 laps, 50, laps and the final 40 laps of action with pit stops at the end of the first two segments.

OTTERBOX®: Germán Quiroga and Red Horse Racing couldn’t be more excited to share the debut on dirt at Eldora Speedway with our great OtterBox partner. The company known for their protective solutions for the leading global handheld manufacturers, wireless carriers and distributors will sport a distinctive paint scheme. For more information on OtterBox visit www.OtterBox.com.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 77 OtterBox Tundra team will bring Chassis No. 103 to the dirt track of Eldora Speedway. The chassis finished in the runner-up position at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2012 and competed in three races (Phoenix International Raceway, Kansas Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway) in 2011.

MEET & GREET: Quiroga, along with teammates Timothy Peters and John Wes Townley will join the NASCAR Camping world Truck Series drivers for an autograph session on Tuesday, July 23rd from 2:00 – 2:45pm at Eldora Speedway located outside of turns 3 and 4 at the Multi-purpose building.

REARVIEW MIRROR – IOWA: Germán Quiroga continues to demonstrate his excellence behind the wheel of his No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra. The three-time Mexico series champion became the first Mexican driver to win a pole in any of NASCAR’s three National divisions. And, he did it in fashion by setting a new track record. The Rookie of the Year contender led the field to the green and showed the way for the first 56 laps of the American Ethanol 200. After suffering damage on lap 61, Quiroga rallied to a 14th-place finish solidifying his 16th-place in the driver point standings.

Germán Quiroga Talks about Racing on Dirt at Eldora Speedway:

How does it make you feel to be entering such a historic race for the Truck Series?

“It’s going to be very fun. I am looking forward to the race. Not only because of the dirt, but because there are a lot of expectations for our OtterBox Toyota Tundra after our race at Iowa Speedway. I think we will be strong on dirt. I felt confident in our test. Hopefully everything goes well and we can be a contender for the win.

What are your expectations for Eldora?

“I’m excited to drive my Tundra on dirt. I was apprehensive about the race at first. Then after we tested and I was behind the wheel, I realized how much fun it is going to be. This is one of the weekends where I expect to do well, while having some fun too.

What do you think about the format and how it is different than your typical weekend?

“I think this is going to be a driver’s race. On a 1.5-mile track you depend on your crew chief, your team, all the testing to know what changes you need to make your truck faster. Here, I think that a driver can really make the difference. I am very confident that we can do well and we will have fun for sure.”
