Timothy Peters Red Horse Racing Eldora Speedway Team Advance

150 FOR TIMOTHY PETERS: Both Timothy Peters and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will hit milestones this weekend at Eldora Speedway. Peters will make his 150th Truck Series start in The CarCash Mudsummer Classic presented by CNBC Prime’s “The Profit.” The Danville, Va. native made his first Truck Series start in April 2005 at his home track of Martinsville Speedway. In 149 starts, Peters has earned six victories (at least one each year for the past five seasons), six pole positions, 29 top-five and 67 top-10 finishes. 

RACE FORMAT: Eldora isn’t just a different race track for the Series but it also brings a different format. NASCAR has reduced the number of entries for the 0.5-mile clay track from 36 trucks to 30. The field will have two laps of qualifying (top-20 in owner’s points locked in) followed by five, eight-lap heat races. Your qualifying spot will determine your heat race. After the heat races are complete, there will be a 15-lap ‘last chance race’ that will lock in the 30 Trucks for the 75-mile race. The 150-lap race consists of three segments; 60 laps, 50, laps and the final 40 laps of action with pit stops at the end of the first two segments.

PARTS PLUS: Parts Plus will join Peters at Eldora Speedway for his 150th Truck Series start as primary sponsor for the No. 17 Toyota Tundra team. The orange, red and black paint scheme has served as primary sponsor for nine races this season. CHASSIS HISTORY: When visiting a new track, why not take a chassis that you are most comfortable with? That is why Timothy Peters and his No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra team will race Chassis No. 093 this weekend at Eldora Speedway. Most recently, Peters raced the chassis at Rockingham Speedway in April. The chassis recorded two wins in 2012 at Iowa Speedway where Peters started the race from the pole position. The second win was captured at Bristol Motor Speedway where he led all 204 laps in dominating fashion.

MEET & GREET: Peters, along with teammates Germán Quiroga and John Wes Townley will join the NASCAR Camping world Truck Series drivers for an autograph session on Tuesday, July 23rd from 2:00 – 2:45pm at Eldora Speedway located outside of turns 3 and 4 at the Multi-purpose building.

REARVIEW MIRROR – IOWA: Timothy Peters went into the American Ethanol 200 with high hopes to duplicate his victory captured at the Speedway’s race last July. With a 10th-place qualifying effort, the No. 17 Parts Plus team proved to be a threat. The Parts Plus driver was able to utilize his driving savvy to maintain his lead on the final restart with 7 laps to go, by powering past the rest of the field and driving on to collect the checkered flag. Peters became the only NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver to have more than one victory at the 0.875-mile speedway. The win marks Peters’ sixth Truck Series victory and fifth top-10 finish in 2013. The victory also moves Peters up two positions in the driver point standings, currently ranked eighth.

What does the 150th NCWTS start mean to you?

“Just how blessed that I’ve been to be in the series this long and have the opportunities that I’ve had. I remember my first start was the Martinsville spring race in 2005 — just the road and the triumph and tribulations to this point. Being able to get to Red Horse and really building my career here is pretty special.”

How do you feel making your 150th start at such a historic race?

“It would be even better if we could leave there with a victory. Eldora is going to be exciting from a race and a fan perspective and there’s a lot of unknowns. Hitting the 150 mark at a pretty historical event in our world is pretty exciting.”

What is your approach to Eldora?

“I guess I look at it as you don’t know what to expect. So you try to make all these expectations and make all these knowns, but you don’t know until you get there. I’m excited about it and I think everyone in the garage area is probably concerned about it because it is a points race and at the end of the day we need to go in with the attitude that we are going to win this race. Whatever cards are dealt, you take that and you try to make the best of the situation and then go on to Pocono.”
