Timothy Peters: Red Horse Racing Kentucky Speedway Team Advance

LUCKY COLOR GREEN: Timothy Peters welcomes Valvoline™ with NextGen™ technology along with Tire Discounters on board his No. 17 Toyota Tundra this Thursday at Kentucky Speedway for the UNOH 225. There are no superstitions for the Red Horse Racing team as the 1.5-mile tri-oval has always been good to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team. In nine starts, Peters has earned two top-five, three top-10 finishes with 13 laps led.

VALVOLINE™ NEXTGEN™ TEAMS WITH TIRE DISCOUNTERS: Red Horse Racing announced on June 12th a partnership with Valvoline™, the manufacturer of NextGen™ recycled motor oil made with 50% re-refined oil technology, for the remainder of the 2013 season. Valvoline™ NextGen™ will serve as primary sponsor along with Cincinnati based Tire Discounters for the UNOH 225 at Kentucky Speedway. Valvoline will also serve as an associate sponsor on the No. 7, No. 17 and No. 77 Toyota Tundras.

CHASSIS HISTORY: Timothy Peters will wheel Chassis No. 010 this weekend at Kentucky Speedway for the UNOH 225. The chassis most recently collected a sixth-place finish at Dover International Speedway. The brand new chassis had vital testing time during a two-day test at Texas Motor Speedway in April as well as time at the wind tunnel after a 10th-place finish at Kansas Speedway.

MEET & GREET: Peters, along with teammates John Wes Townley and German Quiroga will visit the Toyota Pitpass Stage on Thursday afternoon in the Kentucky Speedway Midway at 3:00pm.

REARVIEW MIRROR – TEXAS: Timothy Peters put his No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra in good position for the start of the WinStar World Casino 400 with a seventh-place qualifying effort. An engine issue began to arise for Peters but with his experience he sustained his track position monitoring his gauges. Peters was able to battle inside the top 10 but because of the long green-flag conditions was relegated to a 14th-place finish. The finish moved Peters up one position in the driver point standings to 11th.

Timothy Peters on Kentucky Speedway:

You have a new sponsor this weekend with Valvoline and Tire Discounters. Both are local companies – does this add excitement or pressure as a driver?

“Both. I’m excited to debut the new colors but feeling the pressure of really wanting to have a great run. Kentucky has always been good to me, and with Chassis No. 010 I feel like we have a really great shot to put our Tire Discounters/NextGen Toyota Tundra into victory lane.

What does it take to get around Kentucky Speedway?

Kentucky is really rough. It seems like over the years the track gets rougher with the harsh winters they have. Turns one and two are the easiest part from my perspective. Turns three and four are more challenging because you enter three with high speed, wide open and flat.

Are you superstitious about the color green?

“No, I’m not superstitious of the color green. I’ve run really well with green and won races with green. I’m happy that Red Horse has color on their trucks. I feel like Red Horse is a really top notch team that can represent a top-notch company.”
