Timothy Peters Charlotte Motor Speedway Advance

CHARLOTTE FEVER: The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series enters their fifth race of the 2013 season this weekend at the 1.5-mile Quad oval of Charlotte Motor Speedway. Timothy Peters will be behind the wheel of his No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra making his eighth career start at the Speedway.

TESTING 1-2-3: During the Truck Series time off, Red Horse Racing took two days to travel to Texas Motor Speedway for intermediate testing. All three Red Horse Racing drivers participated in the test as well as drivers from some of its competitors. The test was structured to test in the afternoon and night so the drivers could experience how the track changes as it moves to night race conditions.

PARTS PLUS: Timothy Peters’ No. 17 Toyota Tundra will once again proudly represent Parts Plus at Charlotte Motor Speedway featuring their orange and red color paint scheme. The primary sponsorship has been activated throughout the first four races of the season. The Memphis-based warehouse distributor originated more than 56 years ago tracing back to a series of jobber programs. Since 2005, Parts Plus has been a member of the Automotive Distribution Network that has over 300 member distributors under five brand names and from over 400 separate warehouses across the United States, Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico. MEET & GREET: Don’t miss Timothy Peters alongside teammates John Wes Townley and German Quiroga at the Toyota Pitpass Stage on Friday afternoon in the Charlotte Motor Speedway Midway at 12:30. Peters and Quiroga will also join other Truck Series drivers at Food Lion Speed Street on Thursday, May 23rd for an autograph session beginning at 1:00 pm.

REARVIEW MIRROR – KANSAS: Timothy Peters and the No.17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra started the race in the 18th spot and quickly moved up through the field during the opening laps of the SFP 200. Over the course of the race, Peters battled tight-handling conditions but was able to secure a top-10 finish with Butch Hylton and his team freeing up the Tundra during the 167-lap event. The Parts Plus pit crew was on their game and earned spots on pit road where and when it counted. The 10th-place finish moved Peters up three spots in the driver point standings where he now sits 13th.

Timothy Peters on Charlotte Motor Speedway:
What did you learn about 1.5-mile tracks during your test at Texas Motor Speedway?
“I’m really encouraged about what we found chassis wise while we were at Texas. We found a really great balance that was comfortable to my driving style. It was great to get a jump start on how to keep up with the track changes. Texas is a very temperature sensitive track and Charlotte is the same. Having practice during the day and racing at night you have to be prepared to make the right adjustments at the right time.

Do you have a different mindset when it comes to approaching a 1.5-mile track?
“Not really. I’m a racer, I want to win. I go into every race with that mindset. However, you do have to pay attention a little more in those kinds of races. It’s all about keeping up with the track changes. I have to stay on top of that to communicate that back to Butch (Hylton, crew chief) so he can make the changes correctly.”
