David Starr and the SS Green Light Racing Team look to rebound from a mid-pack finish last week at Rockingham with some old and new faces along for the ride; longtime crew chief Jason Miller is back atop the SS Green Light pit box while new sponsor Niece Companies will adorn the hood of the No. 81 Toyota Tundra.
“I’m really looking forward to Kansas and getting back to a mile and a half speedway,” explained Starr. “Last week we slipped and slid around at Rockingham; it really wasn’t a good race for us. I can’t wait to get to Kansas and regroup and get back on top of things. Kansas is a great track; it’s fast it’s smooth, it was just repaved last year and I’m excited to get up there.”
Backing Starr’s Toyota this weekend will be the Niece Companies of Austin, Texas and Fort Scott, Kansas. Niece Equipment and Niece Products of Kansas manufacture, rent & sell water trucks and fuel/lube trucks to the construction and mining industries. Niece employs over 100 people at its two facilities and not only services local, regional and nationally but is a major exporter to Africa, Australia and South America. Many Niece products are used for dust control in large mines, pits and quarries.
“I’m looking forward to working with my old friend and crew chief Jason Miller again, and man I'm excited to have Niece on board with us. Al Niece is a good friend, he’s a racing enthusiast and he has a great company with great employees and we are excited to have him be part of our team and showcase the Niece Companies in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.”
“I’ve done a little racing in sprint cars and stock cars a few years back, but this is our first foray into sponsorship in NASCAR racing. We are bringing some of our key employees up to the race and using the opportunity to thank some of our great customers,” said Al Niece. “In construction auto racing is very, very popular so we think this works well for us, we are looking forward to it.”
I’m just super excited to get to Kansas and rebound from last week,” concluded Starr. “I’m looking forward to having a good race for Al, his employees and customers and to put our Niece Toyota up near the front of the pack.”
