REDEMPTION IN IOWA: Todd Bodine is anxious to turn his luck around this weekend at Iowa Speedway. The two-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion has three starts at the 0.875-mile tri-oval, with one top-ten and five laps led to his credit. In eight races this season, ‘The Onion’ has an average starting position of 11.1 and an average finishing position of 16.1. Bodine currently sits 12th in the championship point standings, only three points out of 10th.
BACK HOME: For most racers returning to their home stomping grounds, they share memories of racing with their fathers and grandfathers. For Ryan Mulder, racing was a family affair, with his father as the race car builder and lead mechanic and his mother behind the wheel. Mulder knows what it means to win a championship, as his mother has two, both collected at Park Jefferson Speedway, a local dirt track in South Dakota, neighboring their hometown of Sioux City, IA. At the age of 16, Mulder got behind the wheel racing for three years before moving to North Carolina in 2008. After completing courses at Performance Instruction & Training (PIT) as a tire changer, he joined the Red Horse Racing team in 2011 and worked on the No. 7 Toyota Tundra with Miguel Paludo, He is now the front tire changer for Bodine.
CHASSIS HISTORY: The 11 team will utilize Chassis No. 003 this Saturday at Iowa Speedway. Bodine captured his 22nd victory at Dover International Speedway on June 1st driving this chassis. At Martinsville Speedway in March, Bodine qualified 13th with this chassis and finished 25th after cutting down a right front tire late in the race. Last season, this chassis was driven by Timothy Peters at Michigan International Speedway where he started 12th and brought home a second-place finish.
MEET TEAM ONION: Your chance to meet ‘The Onion’ on Saturday at Iowa Speedway: Bodine together with teammate Timothy Peters will meet up with other Truck Series drivers for an hour long autograph session. The session will run from 2:15-3:15pm in the Midway area under the north grandstand in turn four.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: The Truck Series hit Kentucky Speedway for a Thursday evening showcase on June 28th for the UNOH 225. Bodine qualified his No. 11 Toyota Care Tundra in the 13th position and was making his way to the front of the field before an early-race incident left ‘The Onion’ with a 28th-place finish.
