NCWTS: Sauter Wins PPG 400K at Texas Motor Speedway

Johnny Sauter edged pole-sitter Stewart Friesen following a late-race restart for the victory on Friday at Texas Motor Speedway. Sauter started fifth on the leaderboard and led the field for 51 of the 167 circuits in the PPG 400K. The win at the 1.5-mile track will be Sauter’s 21st career trip to victory lane in the series.

Despite leaving with the win, Sauter did not claim any of the stage victories. Stage one was claimed by second-place finisher Stewart Friesen and Grant Enfinger claimed stage two. Enfinger went on to a fourth-place finish.

Through eight completed Camping World Truck Series races in 2018, Sauter goes into Iowa Speedway next weekend with four wins and seven top five and top 10 finishes and holds an average finish of 4.1.

Rounding out the top three finishers was Justin Haley in the No. 24 Fraternal Order of Eagles Chevrolet. The young racer started 10th on the leaderboard and lead the field for three laps. Haley will go into the next race with three top five and five top 10 finishes.

Rounding out the top five was Grant Enfinger and Matt Crafton.

There were nine caution flags including the two stage breaks throughout the event.

The most notable of those involved three trucks in turn three when Jennifer Jo Cobb, Myatt Snider and Dalton Sargeant tangled in turn three on lap 108. The wreck ended the night for Snider and Cobb — who finished 23rd and 24th on the leaderboard. Sargeant will leave Texas Motor Speedway finishing 11th.

Other caution flags throughout the night involved Bo LeMastus, Justin Fontaine, Brett Moffitt and Jordan Anderson.

The next event for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be on Friday June 16 at Iowa Speedway. The M&M’s 200 airs live on FOX Sports 1 and MRN Radio at 7:00 p.m. ET.
