Martin Truex Jr. scored the pole Saturday ahead of Sunday’s season finale for the NASCAR Cup Series at Phoenix Raceway. Truex, racing in his final full-time season in NASCAR’s premier series, posted a quick time of 26.718s / 134.741 mph.
Having 692 starts in the Cup Series, Truex, from New Jersey, earned his 25th career pole.
Joey Logano ended round two as the highest-starting Playoff driver on Sunday by claiming the second starting spot. Logano heads into Phoenix seeking his second Cup Series championship. The driver of the No. 22 Ford finished runner-up in the standings last season.
Ross Chastain, Kyle Larson, and Chase Elliott rounded out the top five.
Ty Gibbs and Christopher Bell will start sixth and seventh.
William Byron will be the next highest Playoff driver on the starting grid in eighth. Byron seeks his first career Cup Series championship in his No. 24 Chevrolet.
Harrison Burton starts ninth with Tyler Reddick, also going for his first career Cup Series championship, in 10th.
Reigning Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney will be the lowest starting Playoff driver after posting the 17th fastest time in round one.
The season finale for the NASCAR Cup Series takes place at 3:00 p.m. ET live on NBC / Peacock / MRN Radio.
