Kyle Larson was victorious in Sunday’s Bank of America Roval 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Larson put on a dominating performance on Sunday afternoon and cruised to victory.
Driver No. 5 led a race-high 63 laps and took home his sixth victory of the 2024 season which is the most by any driver this season.
Larson previously won at the Roval in 2021 and would go on to win the Cup championship in Phoenix at seasons end.
“Thanks to Chevrolet and GM too. It’s known that I don’t really use the sim much and I was in the sim this week. So huge thank you to you guys there. It really really helped me get into a rhythm early on and helped us kind of fine tune our car too, so hats off to everybody there,” Larson told NBC Sports after his win.
On the other side of the equation, Tyler Reddick rebounded from a near disastrous end to his playoff chances when Reddick was involved with his 23XI Racing team owner Denny Hamlin during Stage 2.
Reddick, who was on the verge of elimination from the playoffs after the incident in Stage 2, gained 15 spots over the last 30 laps of the race. Reddick took the final transfer spot into the Round of 8 by four points over 2-time Cup series champion Joey Logano, who missed out on advancing.
After the race, Reddick was congratulated by his 23XI team owners Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin.
“You got to stay focused in those moments man. It’s so easy to lose track of what you can control and either way I was going to drive the car as fast as I could and it just worked out for us. This thing was able to get up back up through the field and get us to the good side of the cutline,” Reddick told NBC Sports post-race.
Drivers who failed to advance into the Round of 8 include: Alex Bowman, Chase Briscoe, Austin Cindric and Daniel Suarez.
Drivers advancing into the Round of 8 include: William Byron, Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin and Tyler Reddick.
The Round of 8 kicks off next Sunday, October 20th at 2:30 p.m. Eastern at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
