ASA Sanctioned Dillon Motor Speedway’s 2012 Season Already off to a Great Start

Ron Barfield Jr. is already enjoying 2012 as his family recently welcomed a new son into their family.  His track, Dillon Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Dillon, SC, has two successful events in the books this season and is preparing for more success in 2012.

“We kicked off 2012 with a great New Year’s Day event along with a successful PASS Series race,” Barfield said. “We already has some big events and have a lot more happening in 2012.”

Dillon Motor Speedway kicked off their 2012 season on New Year’s Day with their second annual New Years Day Raceolution event with over 100 cars competing that day.  “This event is getting bigger every year as the car count for this year’s event doubled over last year’s event,” Barfield said.  “We had great weather this year, and we know that really helped get many street stock competitors out racing that day.”

Last month, Dillon Motor Speedway hosted a PASS South Series event, which drew a star-studded field and a great crowd.

They will host an Open House on Saturday, April 14 before starting their weekly program on Saturday, April 21.

Throughout their 2012 season fans who visit the 4/10-mile asphalt oval will have an opportunity to see a variety of divisions from Late Models, Super Trucks, Chargers, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, UCAR and Mini Cup cars compete on Saturday nights.

Earlier this season, Dillon Motor Speedway introduced their “Full Throttle” program utilizing social media, an interactive website and live streaming of a few selected races.  “Our idea is to help grow the identity of Dillon Motor Speedway and give fans an example of who we are and what we do here,” Barfield said. “Hunter Thomas, our PR Director, has been putting this plan together and we look forward to the results.”

“Ron Barfield and I have a friendship that goes back to when he competed in the NASCAR Truck Series, and it is a pleasure to see the success that he and his staff is having at Dillon Motor Speedway,” Dennis Huth, ASA President said. “Dillon Motor Speedway is a very competitive track that provides great entertaining racing every Saturday night.  We wish them the best for the 2012 season.”
