Brandon McReynolds Comes Home 23rd in Talladega

It had been six years since Brandon McReynolds had been in a NASCAR XFINITY Series car and a unique opportunity with the JGL Racing Young Guns program presented him with a chance to return to the site of his 2012 win in the ARCA Series at Talladega Superspeedway.  Brandon, the son of FOX announcer Larry McReynolds, gained further valuable experience and brought his No. 24 Monster Truck/Redneck Riviera Toyota safely home to a 23rd-place finish in the running of the Sparks Energy 300.

“I greatly appreciate the opportunity given to me by JGL Racing and the effort of all of the guys on this No. 24 Toyota,” said McReynolds.  “As a new guy out here at this type of track it seemed like there were not a lot of guys who were willing to work with me. While that is expected it obviously hurts at a track like this.  We drove up toward the top-10 there early in the race and that is really where we should have finished.”

McReynolds would start the 300-mile event from the 21st position as a result of his qualifying efforts earlier in the day.  The JGL Racing Young Guns driver would quickly move inside the top-15 by the lap 20 competition caution.  With Brandon reporting to his JGL Racing that his No. 24 Toyota was sliding around a little more than he expected, a trip down pit road for a key adjustment proved helpful.  While gaining that valuable experience and respect from his fellow competitors, McReynolds would navigate traffic during the 113 lap event to come home with the 23rd-place finish.

“For sure this was a great learning experience for me,” added Matt.  “We got shuffled out a few times in the draft and picking the right lines is key at these type of races.  I appreciate the support of our sponsors such as Monster Truck and Redneck Riviera and hopefully we get to do this all again soon.”

Next up for the JGL Racing team is a trip to the Monster Mile of Dover International Speedway for the running of the XFINITY 200.  The 10th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday May 14th and can be seen LIVE on FOX at 2:00 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
